Cuffing – hibernate together
Are you familiar with “Cuffing”? Imagine this – the summer is coming to an end, the days are getting darker and temperatures are falling rapidly. You really don’t want to do anything but lie in bed, watch Netflix and eat pizza. But who wants to be alone?
Being in a relationship at this time makes the whole thing a lot nicer, right? When singles get those thoughts, it’s autumn, and the cuffing season begins.
But if you’ve never heard of Cuffing don’t worry because we do and we can tell you all about it! The cuffing season lasts from around November through to the day after Valentine’s Day.. People who prefer being single in the summer months suddenly feel like coupling up so they don’t have to spend the winter alone. When they get into a couple they will spend a lot of time together inside; cozy months in pajamas on the sofa, watching TV and generally enjoy the togetherness.
This situation becomes problematic if one partner sees a future for the relationship rather than just a seasonal solution which can lead to summer heart-break. But how do you know that the winter romance is short-lived and over when the summer months promise adventure again?
Warning sign number one: No future plans are made or discussed. Spring is never mentioned and plans for the summer holidays are hushed up. The type of dates you go on together can also be an indication that it will end after a few months. Typically most dates will stay at home and are often limited to Netflix evenings and cooking together. Friends and family are not involved or introduced (to make the break-up in the spring less complicated!)
To prevent this disappointment and feeling of being led-on, you should be honest from the start. Simple say what you want so any misunderstandings can be avoided.
